REminiscence is a re-implementation of the engine used in the game Flashback: The Quest for Identity
made by Delphine Software and released in 1992.  REminicence was first released by Gregory Montoir in 2005.

Release 0.1(30) based on version 0.1.9 by Gregory Montoir
This version Has:
 * First release, basic functionality
 * Save states
 * Hopefully support for QWERTY phones (untested)
 * Some very basic vibration support (currently only when you get hit)
 * Languages support (untested)
 * Game was tested on n95

REminiscence is the work of Gregory Montoir (
Sektor for a great PSP port and the README
Delphine Software for a great game

To run REminiscence, you'll need a copy of the data files from the DOS version
of Flashback.

I do not know where you can get it (google it?!)
Maybe checkout the PSP port...

 * SDL runtime for S60
 * Game data files
 + Game music files from amiga, mods (optional)
   mods have to be in the correct names (check treestructure.txt for them)
   a batch file  (renamemods.bat) is supplied to help rename the files from amiga.

 * Ability to install Selfsigned apps on the phone

To install:
 * Install the SDL on the phone
 * Create FLASHDATA folder in the root of the memory Card (Has to be E drive on the phone)
 * Inside the FLASHDATA dir create a SAVES dir
 * copy all the data files to FLASHDATA
 + copy the renamed mods to FLASHDATA (optional)
 * install the "sis" file

Controls: (when looking in portrait orientation, the game itself is played
           in landscape orientation)
   D-Pad     - Move left, right, up, or down
   Middle button of D-Pad     - Enter (Use object)
   C   - Backspace (Inventory / exit from a cinematic scene)

   High jump - Hold Pencil + left/right and then release left/right anytime before you get to an edge
  (he only jumps if ledge is within reach, required on 2nd level)

Note: !!! Recomended to use MagicKey for key mappings !!!

Known issues:
* No proper Icon
* No Password input (Use save states)
* No compression of saves and replays (as in the original)
* because of no compression the save files from other platforms are
  not compatible
* No mirror mode
* no fast mode
* Not going to work on s60v5 (no keys!) for those who do have keys
  Like the n97 crowd no guaranties that it will install at all.

  1. Its cool!!! This is the final version or will update?

  2. If there will be request for fixes or addons I will update it.

  3. On my smartphone is missing key Pencil, why not get in the long jump and run. MagicKey be unnecessary software on my smartphone, how to do that would use a pencil instead of 0, without a program MagicKey? And there will be any more new ported games?)

  4. Which model phone you have ?

    Right now working on porting Heart of the Alien.

  5. Heart of the Alien is a good game, but if I'm not mistaken, it's already on Symbian 9 and 6,7,8 ... Smartphone c5. There's no pencil key. You're a very talented programmer, I'll wait your new port. Do you have ICQ?

  6. There is Another world for Symbian Heart of an Alien is basically "Another world 2" which was only released for SegaCD.

    Sorry no icq.

    Will fix the pencil problem.

  7. Ronen K and except for Heart of an Alien you have other plans for how some games that you want to port to symbian? Sorry for many questions.

  8. Fix now Available that fixes the 0 key see the main page of the blog

    There are some games, I see several engines that can be ported Betrayal at krondor maybe Heart Of Darkness and others.

    1. Hi Ronen
      I don't know if you are still making ports of old pc games for symbian but if could do Betrayal at Krondor (which is a classic and one of the best rpgs ever) that would be super awesome. Like you said it could work with the engine that BAK has, the controls are fairly simple as well and I think it just be really cool to play this epic game on symbian phone. The game works on dosbox but it's rather unplayable (you have play without the sound and it's still laggy). If you could do that you're the best, if not well you're still the man. cheers mate and greetings from Poland!

  9. It remains to be going to watch for changes in the blog ... thanks for the new version of the game. I wish you success in porting.

  10. There is Another world for Symbian Heart of an Alien is basically "Another world 2" which was only released for SegaCD..thanks for sharing here..
